Origin Story

Former NRL and Kiwi Rugby League player Sione Faumuina is often remembered more for his off-field indiscretions than his on-field performances. Throughout his NRL career, Sione consistently made headlines for all the wrong reasons. In the absence of social media during that period, he found himself voiceless, unable to share his side of the story, leaving the public in the dark about events behind closed doors. The repercussions of those headlines extended beyond his mental health, affecting his family as well.

However, he managed to turn his life around, embarking on a journey of redemption that he shared through his autobiography, 'The Second Phase.' Taking his message on the road, he traversed the country, speaking at events and leveraging social media to connect with a broader audience. Additionally, he featured prominently in Prime Television's 'Legends of the Pacific - Life After Footy' documentary, sharing the screen with rugby legends Sir Michael Jones and Sir Bryan Williams. More recently, Faumuina reunited with former teammates for Three’s 'Match Fit - League Legends' television series.

It was featruing on the TV show that Sione conceived the vision for ‘League Legends XIII, uniting former NRL players to create a positive impact in the community and raise awareness for Men's Mental Health and Wellbeing.

Using rugby league as the vehicle to engage the community.
